Perspectives in marine phycology in India

Abstract

Compared to other nations of the world, very little information on Indian marine algae utilization is available. This paper highlights the various aspects of marine algae like exploitation, cultivation, presearch programmes, export, marketing and resource management and conservation. Rasearch of CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, India in the algae cultivation of Gracilaria and that future prospects for Gelidiella acerosa cultivation are highlighted in this paper
