An experimental study for the determination of frictional resistance on a model boat under different mud concentrations

Abstract

The results of the experiment conducted to determine the frictional resistance (static) on a model boat under different concentrations of mud in mud-water mixtures have been presented and discussed. The frictional resistance shows a sharp increase at about 15 volume percentage of mud. A comparison of this study with the study on the variation of sound velocity in fine grained suspension suggests that it is probable that a relation exists between the static friction and elasticity
