Beach configuration studies along Visakhapatnam-Bhimunipatnam Coast

Eleven stations were fixed along the 24 km stretch of the beach between Visakhapatnam and Bhimunipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India to study the beach configuration changes and variation in grain size parameters. periodical beach profiles were taken at all stations at the lowest low tide level for a period of sixteen months from November 1973 to February 1975. Monthly and annual changes of beach configuration were determined. In general, the profiles show a gradual building up of the beach from January to August and erosion during the September to December period. During the period of observation, there is an overall addition of material to the beach between Visakhapatnam and Bhimunipatnam
