Some mean meteorological conditions over the Bay of Bengal

Abstract



The mean meteorological conditions using the ship data during the period 1970-1979 have been evaluated and compared with those of Hastenrath and Lamb. The features of the distribution are essentially the same but the strength of the southwesterlies in the monsoon season in Bay are slightly weaker in the recent decade. Evaporation from the Bay of Bengal is estimated using Bunker's variable exchange-coefficients
