Length-weight relationship of certain flatfishes
Abstract
The length-weight relationship has been found to be W = 0.0000041L super(3.202) in Psettodes erumei, W = 0.00000059L super(3.478) in Synaptura commersoniana W = 0.00000L super(3.113) and W = 0.000004L super(3.176) respectively in the male and female of Pseudorhombus arsius. Test for homogeneity of regression coefficients does not indicate any difference between the male and female of Psettodes erumei. In all the three fishes, the exponent differs significantly from the exponent in isometric growth. The peculiar shape of their body is responsible for such deviation.
