Seasonal growth and spore shedding in Ectocarpus mitchellae (Harv.) Hamel

Abstract



Ectocarpus mitchellae (Harv.) Hamel is a seasonal alga growing from November to May at the infra littoral fringe of the intertidal region on Visakhapatnam Coast, Andhra Pradesh, India. Data on growth and liberation of plurispores in E. mitchellae from November, 84 to July, 86 was collected. Maximum growth of this alga was observed in the month of January and maximum number of plurispores shed in January corresponding with this growth period
