On the length-weight relationships and condition factor in the ribbon fish Trichiurus lepturus linnaeus from Gopalpur (Orissa)

Abstract

The length-weight relationship of ribbon fish Trichiurus lepturus from Gopalpur in Orissa Coast, India was observed to be W = 0.00695 L super(2.398). The value of the exponent is much less in comparison to the same fish studied from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh Coast. The low value is attributed to environmental factors which inhibits growth in proportion to length. The variation in the condition factor of the fish was observed to be related to spawning and consequent feeding intensity
