Grounding of Cherry maju and its effect on beach transformation and circulation in Karwar Bay

Abstract



A 14,418 ton cargo vessel Cherry Maju sank off Karwar, Karnataka, India with its cargo intact. The changes occurred in coastal transformation, beach profile and circulation in Karwar Bay have been studied and discussed. The ship was found to provide substrata for algal biota, crustaceans and molluscs
