Ecology of Indian estuaries - 12. A preliminary account on the fish fauna of the Kadinamkulam backwater

Abstract

Fish fauna of the Kadinamkulam backwater in south Kerala, India is listed. A total of 67 species belonging to 34 families have been recorded. Majority of the fish fauna in the backwater is marine elements. Mugilids, tachysurids, cichlids and centropomids are the most common groups contributing substantially to the fisheries
