Seasonal distribution of mysids along the fluctuations of the hydrographical conditions is given and 12 species of mysids belonging to 7 genera are described. The colonization of the estuarine area occurs soon after the floods by the immigration of juveniles from the inshore and the extensive backwaters, which spread over the area near the opening of the river. These extensive backwaters seem to serve as nursery grounds for these organisms from where they are being recruited regularly into the estuarine area. The highly euryhaline species Potamomysis assimilis exhibited wide variations in the armature of the telson and uropods with varying salinities observed in the medium
