Studies on the zooplankton of Vizhinjam inshore water, south-west coast of India

Abstract

Mean monthly biomass values of plankton ranged between 1.3 and 15.25 ml/10 minutes of horizontal haul. Copepods, chaetognaths, decapod larvae, tunicates and fish eggs were seen throughout the year in fair numbers. Coelenterates, polychaetes, cladocerans molluscan larvae and echinoderm larvae showed seasonal occurrence. Ostracods, amphipods, schizopods and cumaceans were obtained occasionally in sparse numbers
